Your Honeymoon: Go Far, Go Big, and Actually Remember It

A couple walking a Maldives beach at sunset

Your honeymoon is the one trip where my advice is always the same: think bigger. A weekend somewhere three hours away, you can do that any time. Traveling across the world for an experience, that does not happen every year. So a honeymoon is exactly when I steer couples toward somewhere far and a little extraordinary, the kind of trip you would not normally plan for yourselves. Here is where I send couples, and the one rule I give every single one.

Where to honeymoon, matched to you

There is no single “best” honeymoon destination, there is the right one for you. A few of my go-to matches:

  • On the East Coast and want adventure plus a beach? Bali or Hawaii.
  • On the West Coast and want adventure plus a beach? The Dominican Republic or Puerto Rico.
  • Want a more European feel? Greece or Croatia.
  • Want a desert escape? Morocco or Dubai.
  • Want a true adventure? An African safari, Machu Picchu, or Patagonia.
  • Usually do Europe but ready for Asia? Japan or South Korea.
  • Dreaming of a wine trip? France, Italy, or Argentina.

These are starting points, not a menu. Tell me the two of you, how you like to travel, what you have already done, what you have always wanted, and I will match you to the destination that fits.

The one rule I give every couple

Plan at least one experience a day. Your days do not need to be packed, in fact they should not be, but there should be a minimum of one timed, planned thing each day: a massage, a tour, a tasting, a boat charter, guided or on your own. The specific experiences are what you will remember most, long after you have forgotten which afternoon you spent by the pool. That single planned moment a day is the difference between a nice vacation and the honeymoon you talk about for years.

The hardest part of a honeymoon is the timing you cannot see coming. The dreamiest destinations each have a season that can quietly ruin the trip, a monsoon month, a wildlife migration you just missed, a shoulder week when everything is perfect and half the price. Knowing those windows, and matching them to your dates, is the difference between a good honeymoon and an unforgettable one.

Why plan your honeymoon with me

Because you should be present for it, not managing logistics across time zones on the trip that is supposed to be about each other. As your travel advisor I match the destination to the two of you, build in the experiences worth remembering, secure VIP recognition and perks at the hotels along the way, and stay reachable the whole time you are traveling. I plan every step in English or Español, so all you have to do is show up and enjoy it.
